You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:9-11

We continue with the “on the one hand. . .and on the other hand . . .” scenario. We would all love to just do away with the fleshly pursuits once and for all, but those pursuits have a bad habit of creeping back into our lives.

Fortunately, though, we do not need to be bound by our fleshly desires. In fact, read the first half of verse eleven: and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you. . .” that portion of Scripture alone is enough for us to be overcomers! The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is alive and well in the world, and in millions of his people around the world. You are not alone. We are in this struggle with millions of our Brothers and Sisters – and with the Holy Spirit.

If then that Spirit is in us, we have life. Period. And not just eternal life, but abundant, fulfilling life on this earth.
