11 “But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. Psalm 81:11-12
It’s not difficult to see any number of nations depicted in verse 12. It’s as if God holds up His hands and says, “Ok, if you insist. I won’t stop you.”
I’m deeply troubled by what I see as more and more people thumb their noses at God and “follow their own devices.” If it were one or two nations, it would be different. But it seems to be the “spirit of the age.” Nation after nation adopts policies and practices that genuinely are self-destructive.
On demand abortion is one topic.
Allowing Iran to build a nuke is a second.
And worldwide acceptance of homosexual activities is a third.
All three topics, while morally repugnant, each carry with its own set of unintended and disastrous consequences when taken to their logical conclusions.
My purpose is certainly not to make a huge political statement but to give you plenty of “fuel” for prayer. I know that most of you do pray, but I fear we have recently crossed another moral line in this nation.
Pray for this nation. Pray for its leaders.
