18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,
and their inheritance will endure forever.
19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. Psalm 37:18-19
The Christian Church in America is starting to be refined, much like gold is refined in the fire.
- In some places it’s a crime to speak out against homosexuality.
- Christian business owners are being told they need serve everyone even if they disagree with them.
- More denominations are embracing and justifying issues that are against clear Biblical teaching.
- In the near future, Christians will probably be asked to accept certain lifestyles or suffer the consequences.
King David tells us in this passage that true Christians will stand the test of time. They will not wither because of a command from a government official.
I know, it all seems so far off, but I suspect we will see greater persecution in this country in my lifetime. That’s not written to scare or intimidate but to help others see the times as they are. It’s also written to encourage those who have already stood their ground in good times. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing all along. The discipline you showed back then will undoubtedly help you in what lies ahead.
