Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
but harbor malice in their hearts.
Repay them for their deeds
and for their evil work;
repay them for what their hands have done
and bring back on them what they deserve. Psalm 28:3-4
Here is David once again speaking from the heart. It’s raw emotion and something he seems to be quite passionate about. I think it’s one of the reasons people like what David wrote. It’s honest.
Fortunately for our sake, God doesn’t punish us according to what we deserve. If He did, we’d all be in trouble.
Truth be told, we all deserve hell, but that’s what grace and mercy are all about. Jesus paid the penalty for sins so we didn’t have to. He paid the ultimate sacrifice for us. I don’t begin to understand how or why He did it except to say that He did it, and I accept it.
Greater love hath no man than this, that He lay down His life for a friend. John 15:13
