Still Telling the Story

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. Luke 2:16-18

A host of angels told the shepherd boys to go see Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem. They left their sheep unguarded to do it. After they say the baby, they spread the word. Who would believe these probably uneducated and smelly shepherd boys? Why would they even listen to the boys?

These boys had seen several miraculous things that day: the host of angels, the angels speaking, and finally the baby and Joseph and Mary that the angels had told them about. It was all they could talk about. Everything pointed to the child.

Two millennia have passed. Educated, uneducated, high society, low society, young, and old still hear about this baby in Bethlehem. They stop what they’re doing to investigate. Many are surprised to find the Son of God just as others had told them.

We shouldn’t stop telling the story because we think people have heard it too much. We have no idea where people are in their spiritual journey through life.

Merry Christmas. May He continue to bless you through this year and into 2018.
