Summon your power, God; show us your strength, our God, as you have done before. Psalm 68:28
Many in the Church underestimate the power of God Almighty. What does this power look like and how does it manifest itself?
For Believers, the Holy Spirit in us gives us the power to live a Godly and holy life. He also illuminates the Word of God to make it easier to understand spiritual things. Those are just two of the powers that the Holy Spirit gives the Believer for day-to-day living.
Another part of that power is the strength to endure what is not humanly possible. It’s especially revealed in the midst of persecution and personal tragedy, two times that are unbearable without some outside assistance. The stress and pain we have to endure is impossible without the power of the Holy Spirit to strengthen us.
Most of the time, however, we will not see the end result of praying for strength. Afterwards, when a crisis is over, it’s fairly easy to see that we were given strength, but in the midst of it, it’s not obvious. This also applies to daily life as well. Since it’s not easy to see the end result of the hurdles we have to face daily, pray for strength is even more critical for our well-being.
