Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
In a day and age when trouble around the world is trumpeted on every blog and news network, the words Jesus spoke 2000 years ago ring true. There is much to worry and concern ourselves with these days. Strife at home, on the job, in schools, in the community, in politics, in the stores, on the streets. There’s strife everywhere. Even though Jesus was speaking to His disciples about the upcoming persecution they would be experiencing, His peace He gives freely.
It’s at times like there we just need to sit back, close our eyes, and “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful“. Colossians 3:15.
In fact it’s probably not a bad idea to do daily. The world certainly needs strifeless, peaceful people. They certainly won’t get it from the news or the internet. They need us to reflect the peace they so desperately need.
