Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
There is so much power in these words. If we were to grasp just a tenth of what Paul is saying here, we would be transformed forever.
What are you actively doing to “renew” your mind? What are you filling your mind with day after day? What is challenging you intellectually? What major spiritual doctrine have you wondered about recently? The older we get, the less likely we are to “engage” our minds.
Not only are we to engage them, we are to renew them. Memorizing scripture certainly helps. Reading books and listening to tapes from Godly men and women help. Then, instead of just nodding our heads to what we read and hear, we should then engage the world with what we’ve learned. What that means to you is very different than what it means to me.
My challenge to you is this: listen to one sermon or read one book from a Godly teacher this week. Write down important points. Listen or read again if you don’t understand.
Then, take it to the streets.
