Talents, Gifts, and Skills

3 Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with timbrel and harp. Psalm 149:3

Talents, gifts, natural abilities, learned skills. It doesn’t matter to God. He’ll take what you and I have.

Can’t “carry a tune in a bucket”? No big deal.
Can’t play any musical instrument? Don’t worry about it.
Can’t raise your hands or clap them because of some kind of illness? Fine. Don’t sweat it. He gets it.

Or perhaps you’re a fine singer and can play a dozen instruments. Do it all to His glory. He’s given you talents to use for His glory.

It’s hard for us to understand these things because we base so much of who we are in what we do and say. In that sense we are very “works” oriented.

To paraphrase an old Army saying, “Talents. Use ’em if you got ’em.”

And if you don’t got ’em, use what you have.
