but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, Where are you going? Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. John 16:5-7

Jesus’ time on earth was drawing to a close. What He’s teaching them about the Holy Spirit is necessary for their survival. Very shortly Jesus will be gone and they will have to “fend” for themselves. But that’s exactly Jesus’ point. They will have the Advocate – the Holy Spirit to see them through.

I’ve written about it numerous times in this devotional but it deserves repeating even daily: you are not alone. I am not alone.

We don’t have to fight the daily demons and monsters and dragons and devils alone.

We have an Advocate.

But we need to call on Him.

Often.

Daily.

Hourly.

Minute by Minute.
