Misfortune pursues the sinner, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous. Proverbs 13:21
We in the West look at prosperity in terms of dollars. Everything is seem through the prism of the dollar bill.
Sadly.
There’s much more to prosperity than money. If you don’t believe me, ask a Brother or Sister in “developing” countries what it means to prosper. Their answer would be very different than ours is.
Having a roof over our heads, warm and clean clothes on our backs, good food and clean water in our stomachs, all of which we take for granted. None of them should be taken for granted. In fact, for the most part, we don’t think too much about any of those things. Or at least we don’t worry about whether we have them or need more of it.
As we leave one holiday (Thanksgiving) and march into the next (Christmas), thank God for the basic necessities that we have and to help us not take them for granted.
