Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Romans 13:14
We end Romans 13 with this great verse. It’s a verse we should somehow glue into our minds. If there’s ever a verse you would consider memorizing, this would be a great one. It’s a recipe of sorts. The answer is in the first half of the verse. Thinking, feeling, and reacting as Jesus would react is all a part of clothing yourselves with Him. It’s not all that difficult if we stopped to think about it.
Instead, we cling to the second half of the verse. We want to hear that juicy bit of gossip; we want to slander someone who’s hurt us. We want to eat several of those desserts because they came with the buffet. We want to compare our lives to those who seemingly have no problems.
Before you go further, read the verse aloud three times, then write it down. If you do nothing else this week, memorize it. As it sinks in, say it another 100 times. You cannot overmemorize Scripture. Engrave it into your heart and into your head. It will reap great rewards in the future.
