Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die. Proverbs 15:10
There are certain places in the world that if you deviate one foot to either side of the chosen path, you could get blown to pieces. What if I decided that I was tired of always going the path between the little flags in the dirt? What if I said, “ah, it’s not worth it walking in this straight path; look at all of the open field that awaits me?” Do you think it might not go well in the end?
So, too, when we veer from God’s chosen path for us. Sure it can be tempting to go our own way and do our own things, but remember this: He knows the layout of the minefield. It’s clearly in our best interest to follow that path as He’s laid out for us.
