6 Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,
7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.
When you consider all the corruption in both business and politics throughout the world, it makes you want to scream. Very few are caught and are held accountable. That’s because they have people in place to help them in their corrupt scenes. So, while the main players are corrupt, there’s an entire subset of people who knowingly are enablers. They’re corrupt too.
So, what are we to make of all this corruption and deceit? Do we as “ordinary Joes” throw up our hands and lament the horrible cultural decline? We could but it would be pointless.
Instead we should realize two things:
1) what we see in this world is not the end of it. There will be a judgment. Those who appear to get away with a lot of things will be held accountable with a perfectly fair Judge.
2) While it’s quite easy to point out the corruption in the public arena (let’s face it, politicians provide us with hundreds of case studies in corruption), we should be careful about the encroaching corruption in our own hearts: cynicism, slander, wicked thoughts about someone, petty bickering, gossip, “white” lies, and a discontented heart. Any of those can “snowball” and lead to outright corruption and deceit.
