4 Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Genesis 4:1-2

You can’t talk about Cain without talking about Abel too. We don’t see it yet, but they will end up being like oil and water. We don’t know how far in age they were apart. They were the first to actually grow up from birth. Adam and Eve were created as adults.

The two sons enjoyed the privileges of being the First Sons without knowing Adam and Eve’s full story of sin and destruction. Or perhaps Adam and Eve explained that to them as they grew. Still it must have been quite a pristine environment. What did they do for fun or was everything in their life fun? Did they explore? Did they dream?

Sometimes you just need to ask the questions that we might gloss over when we read through these texts quickly.
