9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
2 Peter 1:9
This verse dovetails with the previous verse.
Peter calls believing Christians who do not grow in the aforementioned qualities blind and nearsighted. In other words, those qualities are very doable standards to attain. Will you know if you’re achieving them? Of course you will.
The Holy Spirit- the Third Person of the Trinity – is our helper in these matters. It’s not as if we’re working on all of those qualities simultaneously.
And if we fail, we just get back on track. We don’t wallow in our failures and make the problem worse.
But all of this takes a commitment and focus on our part to want to be like Christ.
