3 Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
4 this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 When God went out against Egypt, he established it as a statute for Joseph. Psalm 81:3-5
Old Testament writers always took time to remember the major events that shaped Israel’s existence. The slavery and escape from Egypt is one such event.
As Christians we have the opportunity to do the same. Regularly (weekly, monthly, quarterly) churches hold Communion services. Many churches still hold testimonial services. It’s good to recall what God has done in our lives. Sometimes we forget the pain and misery God has brought us through.
Like the Old Testament writers did, we should remind others in our lives of the goodness of God through the years.
