10 When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am. 11 No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers. 1 Corinthians 16:10-11
Timothy was a fairly young guy. The older generation often have a difficult time relating to a young leader. That’s not just true in the Church; it’s true in business as well.
We’re turning over the reins of the Church to a much younger set of leaders, and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Each generation has had to do this, and each generation had its misgivings about how the young leadership would handle the pressure and responsibility. The previous generation was apprehensive about handing it over to us.
God has Millennials lined up to take the church leadership mantle. We have to trust that God will raise them up after we’ve done everything we could to teach and train them. Perhaps we should pray that God will surpass our expectations for their leadership. Trust that God will raise these young men and women of God up to be Godly and bold for this next generation of Believers.
