2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. Titus 2:2
You would think that older men wouldn’t need to be more temperate, sound in faith, self-controlled, etc etc. Well, they’re grumpy old guys; they get that way sometimes! Paul’s just asking Titus to remind them. It’s encouragement in a different form. The older men in most churches tend to be solid in their faith and not wavering in their faith. Yes, they’re stubborn but that’s not always a bad thing, especially when dealing with sound Biblical doctrine. In fact, our churches need more men who are steadfast in their beliefs.
Pray for the older men in your church today. Pray that they will continue to be the bedrock foundation for doctrine and sound teaching.
