Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. John 15:20-21

Who in their right mind would continue to follow someone after He told them they would be persecuted for their belief? Seriously. Where do I sign up for abuse and ridicule?

While we do not experience persecution here (yes, there are small documented cases but by and large we are free from it in the West), we can certainly empathize with our Brothers and Sisters in countries normally closed to the Gospel. Once again I encourage you to go to the Voice of the Martyrs http://www.persecution.com and pick a country listed and read up as much as you can, then pray. These Believers are on the front lines for their faith, and we need to stand behind them in any way we can.It’s not longer theoretical persecution but it’s the real world for them.
