When you go to a concert, you expect to be entertained. At Rock, Country, and Rap music events you can see people clapping and swaying to the music, singing along, and just trying to enjoy themselves. They are, in the most basic of terms, trying to get some joy in to their lives.

Music does that.

It’s one of the many things that differentiate us from other living creatures. We can compose and play and sing and direct choruses but the goal of those endeavors is to bring joy into others’ lives.

Asaph tells us to be active in the process. It’s easy to listen to the music but to actively participate is what brings joy into our lives. And of course the subject of our joy should not be understated or overlooked.

No matter how you slice it, God enjoys the praise of His people!
