When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge. Proverbs 14:32
When you read the second part of this verse, are you encouraged by it? Does it depress you thinking even a little about death?
Many reading this may not have a clue what this refuge is about.
- The refuge is about sin, something we all commit.
- It’s about having to atone for that sin through a sacrifice, which is the Old Testament idea of sacrificing animals instead of punishing us for those sins.
- It’s about a perfect sacrifice for that sin, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- And ultimately it’s about our belief in that Savior.
Jesus himself said that he would be going to prepare a place for us.
That refuge is about being rid of the pain and misery we all experience on earth.
The Refuge is Jesus.
