Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Matthew 4:1-2
After His baptism, He faced temptations from the devil himself. Some might conclude that this is the ultimate battle between good versus evil. If Jesus failed these tests or temptations, then would evil be victorious over good?
It’s actually the Creator versus the created being.
Yes, the devil was evil personified, but he was going up against the Second Person of the Trinity – God Himself.
Not only that, but Jesus is the Word of God, so if the devil tried to use scripture against Him – which he did in every instance – it would be no match because, again, Jesus is the Word of God.
Let me be clearer: He wrote the Book! He was the Book. He is the Book.
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 6:10-11
