The Search

10 How long will the enemy mock you, God? Will the foe revile your name forever?
11 Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them! Psalm 74:10-11

We look out into the world and see the utter mockery and disdain that some people have for the things of God. It seems like it’s getting worse as the days go by. We hear stories of absolute evil and wonder why God doesn’t annihilate those involved. Like Asaph (and in many of David’s psalms), we wonder how God could possibly be so patient because we wouldn’t be. What we see and what actually goes on around the world behind closed doors would probably immobilize us from the shock.

“Why,” we ask? “Why?”

Since we are not privy to the real-time intelligence God has (namely, his omniscience), we only see things from our very limited viewpoint. It still doesn’t hurt to question because then we are able to explore the Word of God for answers. We may never know some of those answers this side of heaven, but the search is as often invaluable as the answers we find.
