Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.” John 1:32-34
We get a small glimpse into the supernatural here. In order to identify Jesus the Spirit came down in the form of a dove and rested on Jesus (and not as I wrote about yesterday).
John’s testimony here is simple: “I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”
I’m not sure that our testimony should be all that different. Even as we live out our Christian life, “because I acknowledge He is the Chosen One, I will do (or will not do) such and such.”
It’s an acknowledgement that He is sovereign and He is in control.
