The Struggle

A servant pampered from youth will turn out to be insolent. Proverbs 29:21

Those reading this verse can identify with the sentiment of “these kids don’t know what sweat and hard work is. Why, when I was their age…” And yes, much of that is true.

But there is an aspect of this that we can identify with on a personal level. Think of your faith. Are you coasting along or is it a struggle for you? If you are coasting, does it bother you that you’re not being challenged in your faith and that you don’t have to worry about the government coming knocking at your door in the middle of the night to arrest you? I doubt it does bother us because in most cases “out of sight, out of mind.”

On the other hand, if your faith is a struggle for you, then I believe that’s a good thing for you, though it’s a tough pill for us to swallow. It’s good because it keeps you in the fight. It also means that you haven’t given up, which means that God has not given up either. If it were all roses and posies for us, where does faith come in?

Many reading this have struggled to the point of giving up because it’s a hard journey. It absolutely is and I won’t deny that. Hang in there. Get people to pray for you. All the struggle you’re going through is worth it. You may not be able to see that now, but it is.
