A fool’s mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. Proverbs 18:7
Yet again is another strong and clear reference to the waywardness of the tongue. The issue isn’t that we don’t intend to say the right things; it’s that we do intend to do it but in “the heat of the moment” we forget or have not disciplined ourselves to say the best things.
I recall before I was a Believer, my tongue was fairly vile and perverse. I had to train myself to not say the things that were on my mind at the time. I had to train my tongue.
Similarly, when we train our minds by filling it with the Word of God and with wholesome thoughts, good things are bound to come out. Conversely, when we fill it with a myriad of “garbage,” garbage will come out.
So, training our minds is a deliberate act on our part. Take action today to fill it with the Word of God.
