8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, 1 Corinthians 12:8

The spirit of wisdom Paul talked about here is the gift of speaking Biblical truth into situations. Often we find ourselves in murky and troubling situations. Someone with a word of wisdom will cut through the murk and make bold pronouncements.

How do these people get these words of wisdom? First of all, these are supernatural gifts. Secondly, a person will know and understand the Word of God intimately. Thirdly, this person may be one of the humblest people you will ever meet. They won’t be loud or brash but they will probably be peaceful. If you ever discover one of these people, latch onto them. They are literally a fount of wisdom and insight.

Even though I’ve only met two of these people in my life, my life has been filled with wise and Godly men and women. Your life has been that way too. Do these people have the word of wisdom that Paul talked about? Probably, but to a lesser degree.

Still, the body of Christ needs men and women filled with wisdom. Now more than ever.
