4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. Titus 3:4-5
As mentioned yesterday, our old life is gone, passed, done away with. Then God entered the picture. Actually, He was there all along; it’s just that we took notice and had to look up from the pit we found ourselves in. Of course, it’s not what we did, but His mercy.
So, after all these years, I still don’t get it. Why He looked down and had pity on us is the mystery for all time. That He did it and continues to shower us with mercy isn’t a question. That He did it defies all forms of logic.
Continue to ponder this mystery today. We shouldn’t take it lightly but we should take time to consider its merits and be lost in wonder over it. Why? What does it mean? How can we possibly thank Him enough or repay (answer: we can’t)?
