A maskil of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer.
I cry aloud to the Lord;
I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
2 I pour out before him my complaint;
before him I tell my trouble. Psalm 142:1-2
What was it like living the life of a king one day and hiding out in a cave the next? At what point did he realize he’d never be able to go back to that life?
He of course was not alone in the cave as some of his fighting men were near him for protection. What was it like for them to see their king in such despair and pain?
What they did see was a king who was humbled by his circumstances and crying out to God.
The exact opposite is happening with leaders (and potential leaders) in the United States. The two main candidates for President are proud and arrogant. They only mention God when they are trying to impress voters. Obviously we don’t see them in their private setting but you can tell a lot with their public persona.
Pray now for the direction of this country.
Pray also for peace in this land, Israel, Syria, and Russia. Right now Syria is a powder keg that could blow any minute.
Pray for cooler heads to prevail.
