Truth, Whole Truth, Nothing But the Truth

A truthful witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies. Proverbs 14:5

There’s a reason why you hear, “do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” as part of the Witness Oath in a courtroom. It’s human nature to hide part of the truth when not asked about it specifically.

Most reading this have been wronged and hurt by half truths. If only you could have had your “day in court” to tell the other half of the truth, the part that the person conveniently left off. It is easy to tell things the way we see it from our point of view.

Always remember that truth wins out in the end. It might not look like it in the midst of the battle, but it will. And it’s something we need to consider when we tell half truths when we have knowledge of the other half of that truth.
