Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12:18

Every single one of us knows what it’s like to plot and plan vengeful deeds against someone else. We may not end up carrying them out but we are very keen on asking the partial question, “what if. . .?”

Certainly it’s the sin nature rearing its ugly head when we think these things (though for a moment the thought of your plan actually succeeding is sweet). In an earlier passage the Bible tells us we should “bless and do not curse.” Going from plotting and scheming to actually blessing someone is surely not “the world’s” ways, is it?
