Victory in Jesus, My Savior Forever

Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand. Psalm 20:6

Last Sunday we sang “Victory in Jesus” in Church. It’s been awhile since I had sung it but to refresh your minds, here is the first verse and chorus:

I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood’s atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

Yes, there is victory in Christ. Yes, He answers the prayer of his Saints. And yes, He is able to save.

This is what King David knew to be true; this is also what we know to be true.

And as I write this, I recognize that not all reading this are experiencing victory in Jesus. Whether it be relationship or family troubles, money worries, sin, discouragement, or just plain hopelessness. Perhaps the most important thing you need to know is this: you are not alone in your struggles. Often we feel that our struggles and problems are ours, and that no one else has them! We feel isolated and cut off. Truth is, we all have these problems. From the rich to the poor and from coast to coast, we are all in this battle together.

If you’re not experiencing Victory in Jesus, reach out to someone close to you. There’s no shame in admitting you’re hurting. Most people will be glad you reached out to them. You’ll be glad you did.
