5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God. Psalm 43:5
This is the 3rd verse like this in two chapters. Put another way, if the Almighty God, who is worthy of praise, is in control, why in the world would you be downcast, oh my soul?
Indeed.
We live in a world that wears and tears us down when it can. It’s not a volitional act; it’s just part of the human existence. We are constantly being bombarded by money, sex, not good enough, not thin enough, and class envy. Our religion is mocked and ridiculed. Our children are laughed at. So it’s no wonder that our spirit and soul get beat up regularly. While we’d love to report that we go from mountain top experience to mountain top experience, it doesn’t happen that way.
Instead, this weariness of the soul is a golden opportunity to run to God.
Run to Him.
Run fast.
Often.
He awaits to restore your soul.
