50 Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”
John 1:50-51
There was something that clicked in Nathanael when Jesus said he saw him under the fig tree. We don’t really know what thoughts Nathanael was thinking, or what was going on when he was standing under the fig tree, but we know that Jesus seeing him there broke through his unbelief.
We are often in situations that are difficult and we may not think that God sees us there but He does.
A reminder of a moment in your life when you were struggling and God saying, “I saw you there” can bring a break through.
And that was just the beginning of what Nathanael was going to see while walking with Jesus. We see here in the later portion of the text that the angels were going to operate on behalf of God, doing His bidding.
We see this when Jesus fasted in the wilderness that the angels came and ministered to Him.
While we may feel alone in the physical realm, in the spiritual realm, God is working on our behalf.
