That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3:12-13

When you think of heaven, you think of a lot of things, but rightesouness isn’t even in the top 10. Oh, we know it will be there because God will be there. The new heaven and new earth will be so different than anything we know or see now. What does a place look like with 100% righteousness? We don’t know. None of us have experienced such a place. There is righteousness in certain circumstances here on earth but most of it is not sustained. We are sinners. Certainly we are saved but we still live in a fallen world.

The “gold standard” for life here is to be righteous 24/7 – and we certainly have the Holy Spirit to help us in that regard, but the evil one has schemes and plans to trip us up. So I’ll say it again, we have the Holy Spirit to help us. Satan’s power is nowhere on the same level as the Power of God. They are not equals plus one as the media would have us believe. Satan is a created being. God the Creator created him.

We have the Holy Spirit – the third person of the Godhead trinity – to help us overcome anything and anyone. The goal is to be like Jesus in every way.
