We Need God

Yet you brought me out of the womb;
you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.
From birth I was cast on you;
from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near
and there is no one to help. Psalm 22:9-11

King David recognized that through it all, God had been there for him. As he recalls those times when He was close, David now calls on God to be just as close as before. He recognized his utter dependence on God.

We would do well to acknowledge that dependence as well:

  • As we wake in the morning, we need God to strengthen us.
  • As you’re driving, we need God to help us with patience and to protect us.
  • As we work and interact with people, we need God to give us wisdom.
  • Throughout the day, we need God to encourage and motivate us.
  • As we explore truth in the Word of God, we need God reveal truth.
  • As we comfort the afflicted, we need God give us words.
  • As we lay in bed at night, we need God to give us a peaceful rest.

These are but a few reasons to depend on God every hour of every day.
