8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8

Again, we find Peter exhorting the persecuted believers to love each other. In a sense, they are all they’ve got. They all have a vested interest in making sure there is no hatred, division, or malice within their own groups.

We see this theme over and over again in the New Testament about loving one another. Often the context is among believers.

It’s as true today as it was then. Satan seeks to divide anyway he can.

Big issue, small issue, meaningful issue, meaningless issue, family issue, doctrinal issue, non-doctrinal issue.

It doesn’t matter to him because he is the great wedge driver. The wedges come fast and furious the more the church is being obedient to God’s word.

So, it would make sense that loving one another despite our differences would be the best way to defeat Satan.
