What’s In Your Heart?

From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence. Proverbs 13:2

The Bible has much to say about what a man says. We can praise and curse with the same lips, and often within the same paragraph!

The Bible also talks about the root of a man’s lips: his heart.

  • That unkind word you said? What’s in your heart to make you say that?
  • That juicy morsel of gossip that you are just dying to spread? What’s in your heart to make you say that?
  • That sarcastic remark to an unsuspecting recipient? What’s in your heart to make you say that?
  • What did you call that woman who cut you off while driving? What’s in your heart to make you say that?

It’s not a deep question, but we need to ask it often: “what’s in my heart to make me say and do the things I do?”
