12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14
When you become a Christian, a spiritual transformation takes place. It’s not that the “greens are greener and the whites are whiter,” as the saying goes, but you understand things you didn’t know before. The Bible now has new life. Of course we all know that the Bible is a vibrant, exciting book, but now it becomes so much more.
Explaining these differences to non-Believers is next to impossible because you really don’t understand what’s going on inside. No one does. When the Spirit of God is working within you, you are changing day by day. Before you know it, the things you once did, you no longer do. Sure, you still struggle, but now you know what to call it. Often it’s spiritual battle that the enemy of our souls wages against us.
If we’re reading the Bible regularly, we’ll see words and events pop out at us that never used to. That’s because we’re at a different stage in our walk with Christ. Ten years from now if you read that same passage, something entirely new will jump out at you. That’s the Spirit of God in the life of a Believer!
