Work and Family

1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots around your table.
4 Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord. Psalm 128:1-4

Work and family. These are two blessings of God mentioned by this psalm writer. Isn’t that interesting?

Even today I was lamenting job related issues. I think this blessing goes further than jobs. Throwing yourself into something, whether it brings income or not, is a great thing.

Being idle isn’t.

We see the trouble some extremely wealthy people cause when they lead idle lives. Even for the super wealthy, if they don’t throw themselves into something meaningful, they run the risk of being bored and troublesome. Even retirees run the risk of being too idle.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…Ecclesiastes 9:10

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” Colossians 3:23
