The wages of the righteous bring them life, but the income of the wicked brings them punishment. Proverbs 10:16
Most of us have the idea that work is a punishment, something that if we could do less of it and earn more money, we would. But back in the Garden of Eden, “the LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Genesis 2:15. It was his work, his calling. It should be something we enjoy doing. Many of us get stuck in a rut regarding work. Some of the jobs we do are not fulfilling and the quality of our work suffers. It has been said that if you enjoy what you do, it isn’t work. Unfortunately, very few derive true satisfaction from doing an honest day’s work.
Consider for a moment your work and your attitude towards it. Do you grumble and complain about the boss and the workload? Do you wake every morning eagerly hoping to please your boss by what you do? Now let me ask a question that cuts straight to the chase: is your attitude towards work any different than the complainer in the cubicle or office nearby? Perhaps it’s time to move on or…perhaps it’s time to adjust your attitude. And besides, with 10% unemployment, it may not be a great idea to be so grumpy at your job.
