Work

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10:4

As I write this, three international students are living with us so that they can work and learn English. This year in Virginia Beach there is an large influx of international students from at least 21 nations. Many are eager to work two and three jobs if they were available. Sadly, though, there are more student workers than there are jobs this year. But still, those who are “idle” are pounding the pavement, knocking on doors, following up leads because they do want to work.

Again, there is a significant principle with this verse and it is this: work is a good thing. The sad part about that is that many of us are dissatisfied with our jobs. We go there because we can draw a paycheck and do it all again the next day. And as I write this, I do recognize that there are those reading this who don’t have work. With all the resumes you’ve sent out and interviews you’ve conducted, you would love nothing more than to love the job you don’t have. But don’t lose heart.

Today, thank the Lord for the work you are doing even if it is just looking for work. Hold your head high and smile. Something will break through soon for you. Continue to cry out to God, send out those resumes, and don’t be discouraged; He has the perfect job for you.
