Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. Proverbs 11:4
The old maxim, I’ve never seen a U-Haul tied to a hearse, underscores the reality that “you can’t take it with you when you go.”
What benefit will it be to you if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Mark 8:36
That’s such a powerful verse. We in the West idolize the wealthy as if they have some extraordinary talents and gifts to bestow on us peons. Were Jesus to return tomorrow and take us home to be with Him, all the money in the world can’t buy that peace. Even the rich man in the Lazarus story wanted the Lord to send others to warn about what was to follow. His wealth meant nothing.
If you or I lost it all tomorrow, would we still be content?
