Wow!

Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Proverbs 19:20

Can you think of the last piece of advice that you listened to and accepted? I’m not referring to “best practices” of making a cake or sanding plywood, per se. I’m talking about sound advice from someone who’s been down the road you’re travelling.

We all need wisdom. We all need to distinguish good advice from poor advice. You will probably receive good advice from a wise person, obviously. Most people you run across are not overly wise. Yes, they’re smart and intelligent and witty, but wise?

Wisdom comes from listening to the people who have gone before you and taking heed. The people who have gone before you have gone to the “school of hard knocks” and are tempered in their thinking.

Be very careful of the person who tells you he is wise. If you listen to a person long enough you just know he is wise. He doesn’t need to broadcast it.
