The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.” Psalm 1:4-6
God is not overly concerned about world events, about Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Syria, and any number of nations who have rebelled against their Creator (including those in the West). He laughs at their arrogance and “self-sufficiency.”
It’s like the ant looking up at the human and shaking it’s ant-fist. What would it take for the human to just crush the ant? The will to do it mainly. Is it really any different than these leaders against God?
The Psalmist tells us that the Lord laughs at the leaders banding together against the Lord. He laughs because it would be incredible to even suggest that they would want to rise up.
In the end, though, they will be brought down.
It’s easy to fret about what’s happening around the world because we’re not in control of it. Fortunately, we know who is, and it isn’t any of the world leaders. The children’s song is as important now as when we sang it as kids.
He’s got the whole world
In His hands
He’s got the whole wide world
in His hands
He’s got the whole world
in His hands
