I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Romans 15:30
How often does a friend ask us to pray for them or someone they know. What’s our response? Oh yeah, sure sure. I’m afraid we say that more often than we actually pray for that situation.
Praying for people takes time and energy. First, we have to remember the request, which, unless it’s something urgent, you’ve probably already forgotten about it. Second, it takes energy to actually pray for people and situations that are once or twice removed from us. It can be done, but we have two factors working against us.
So, I would like to propose that we pray for situations as they arise. If someone asks for prayer, pray right then and there. . . on the spot. That way you have taken the time and energy to pray when it was freshest on your mind. It also encourages the person you are praying for.
Wouldn’t you be encouraged if someone did that for you?
